A new Gallup poll indicates that registered nurses (RNs) continue to be the most trusted profession based on their honesty and ethical standards. For 13 of the last 14 years, Gallup’s annual survey reflects a deep trust in nurses – 85% of Americans rated both honesty and ethical standards for nurses as “high” or “very high.” Much of this sentiment is a direct result of the high standard of care that nurses provide in accordance with a Code of Ethics for Nurses that supports the best interests of patients, families, and communities. Nurses are often the strongest advocates for patients who are vulnerable and in need of support.
